Manufacturing Process – Neoprene Rubber Sheets

The ingredients involved in rubber processing are chemicals such as sulfur, zinc oxide, TMT, titanium, MBTS. Minerals such as calcium carbonate, carbon. Processing oil called RPO (rubber processing oil), all these ingredients are mixed together with rubber processing machines which include Ban-bury compound, kneading machine, mixing mills, calendering machine, extrusion machine, hydraulic press, rotary curing and a cooling balm.

There are two types of rubber available, namely natural and synthetic. Natural rubber is obtained from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) after processing the milky type of material licked from the rubber tree (called latex).

Synthetic rubber is a petroleum-based product produced using content derived from crude oil and the addition of certain chemicals used in industry. Various types of synthetic rubber are available in the market such as Chloroprene (Neoprene), Silicone, EPDM, Fluoro-Elastomer, Nitrile, Hypalon, Butyl, all these grades vary according to application and specifications,

for example- Neoprene – it is resistant to oil, acids, alkalis, hydrocarbons and is resistant to heat.

Silicone – they are very resistant to temperature, they can withstand up to 250 degrees Celsius.

EPDM – they are resistant to temperature, aging, radiation, EPDM rubber prevents the passage of water or liquid and this is the reason why it is often used in waterproof roofs, linings of canals and ponds.

Nitrile – or NBR sheets are permeable to gases, so they are used as packing seals.

Viton or fluoroelastomer – is resistant to a wide range of oils and solvents. It shows good resistance to wear and tear. These panels tolerate high temperatures very well.

The demand for raw rubber has increased rapidly in the past few years, mainly due to the revolution in the automotive sector. Tires are a basic component of every car, due to which the prices of natural and synthetic rubber are increasing day by day. The tire industry accounts for at least 80% of the consumption of all rubber (both natural and synthetic) produced in the world.

Another major rubber product is industrial rubber sheets, which are used in various applications such as gaskets, packaging, electrical insulation and mats. In modern times, rubber sheets are manufactured using a mixture of natural and synthetic rubber and are available in various colors like green, red, blue, green, black, but black is preferred for industrial purposes.

The raw materials used in the manufacture of rubber sheets vary according to the application, for example, silicone is used for heat-resistant purposes, neoprene for acid and heat, as well as other special purpose materials.

In addition to industrial rubber sheets, other products produced by processing raw rubber are pipes, carpets, tires, condoms, medical equipment, oil seals, gaskets, yoga mats, conveyor belts, footwear, printing rollers, electrical insulation mats.
